Handknotted Blue Rug – This refined Herati rug (136 x 200 cm) is a remarkable blend of tradition and elegance, handwoven by Ersari tribe artisans in Turkmenistan’s Lebap province. Featuring the Beshir-inspired Herati pattern, this rug displays a shimmering blue field that changes subtly with the light — thanks to its luxurious silk and wool blend composition.

Woven over 400 hours by three master weavers using a silk foundation and fine silk-wool pile, this rug offers approx. 216 knots per square inch, ensuring intricate detailing and long-lasting durability. Fire-resistant, stain-resistant, and suitable for modern interiors including those with floor heating, it’s both beautiful and practical.

This silk & wool Herati rug is the perfect heirloom-quality piece to bring heritage, elegance, and character to any space.

Please ignore any creases on the rug, as these are due to it being tightly packed during transit. The creases will naturally disappear within about a week once the rug is laid flat and walked upon. Additionally, please note that colors may slightly differ from the images shown due to lighting conditions and screen settings.

How do I care for my handmade rug?

During the weaving process, handmade rugs remain on the loom for an extended period. Over time, this can lead to a buildup of microscopic dust particles within the fibers — often invisible to the naked eye. As the rug is used, these particles gradually rise to the surface. With regular vacuuming, these fine particles are removed, revealing the rug’s true colors and natural vibrancy.

Unlike mass-produced carpets, handmade rugs don’t wear out with use — in fact, they get better. As you walk on them and care for them properly, the fibers become softer, the colors deepen, and the rug develops even more character. With the right maintenance, a handmade rug doesn’t just last — it becomes more beautiful and valuable with time.

If you're storing your wool rug for an extended period, it’s important to let it breathe. Every 3–4 months, take the rug out, lay it in the sun for a few hours, and allow it to air out. This helps prevent moisture buildup, discourages moths, and keeps the wool fibers fresh and healthy. Proper storage and occasional sunlight can significantly extend the life of your rug.

Returns & Exchanges

Since shipping is one-way and costs are significant, we do not offer returns or exchanges. To ensure your satisfaction, we send detailed videos and photos of the rugs before shipping.
