Herati Afghan Rug – This handknotted oriental silk rug (111 x 180 cm) is a refined expression of traditional Herati design, woven by Ersari artisans in Turkmenistan's Lebap province. With shimmering blue tones and intricate all-over motifs, this rug adds elegance, precision, and luxury to any interior.

Woven over 360 hours by three master weavers, this Afghan-style rug is made from fine silk pile and silk foundation, offering approx. 170 knots per square inch. Its lightweight structure, soft sheen, and ability to shift color with lighting make it a timeless piece of visual art — perfect for formal spaces, quiet rooms, or display settings.

A durable yet delicate silk rug crafted to impress for decades — a collector’s choice for those who value subtle complexity and cultural legacy.

Please ignore any creases on the rug, as these are due to it being tightly packed during transit. The creases will naturally disappear within about a week once the rug is laid flat and walked upon. Additionally, please note that colors may slightly differ from the images shown due to lighting conditions and screen settings.

How do I care for my handmade rug?

During the weaving process, handmade rugs remain on the loom for an extended period. Over time, this can lead to a buildup of microscopic dust particles within the fibers — often invisible to the naked eye. As the rug is used, these particles gradually rise to the surface. With regular vacuuming, these fine particles are removed, revealing the rug’s true colors and natural vibrancy.

Unlike mass-produced carpets, handmade rugs don’t wear out with use — in fact, they get better. As you walk on them and care for them properly, the fibers become softer, the colors deepen, and the rug develops even more character. With the right maintenance, a handmade rug doesn’t just last — it becomes more beautiful and valuable with time.

If you're storing your wool rug for an extended period, it’s important to let it breathe. Every 3–4 months, take the rug out, lay it in the sun for a few hours, and allow it to air out. This helps prevent moisture buildup, discourages moths, and keeps the wool fibers fresh and healthy. Proper storage and occasional sunlight can significantly extend the life of your rug.

Returns & Exchanges

Since shipping is one-way and costs are significant, we do not offer returns or exchanges. To ensure your satisfaction, we send detailed videos and photos of the rugs before shipping.
