Woven by six expert artisans over 1160 hours in the Lebap province of Turkmenistan, it features the iconic Tekke pattern, a motif also found on the Flag of Turkmenistan, symbolizing pride, tradition, and artistry.
Crafted entirely from 100% wool pile on a wool foundation using asymmetric knots, this red Turkoman rug boasts approx. 187 knots per square inch — ensuring long-lasting durability, richness in texture, and elite-quality detail. Its commanding size makes it perfect for luxury interiors, large halls, ceremonial spaces, or grand residences.
This Turkmen palace rug is more than a floor covering — it is a woven symbol of national identity, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance.
Please ignore any creases on the rug, as these are due to it being tightly packed during transit. The creases will naturally disappear within about a week once the rug is laid flat and walked upon. During the weaving process, handmade rugs remain on the loom for an extended period. Over time, this can lead to a buildup of microscopic dust particles within the fibers — often invisible to the naked eye. As the rug is used, these particles gradually rise to the surface. With regular vacuuming, these fine particles are removed, revealing the rug’s true colors and natural vibrancy.
Unlike mass-produced carpets, handmade rugs don’t wear out with use — in fact, they get better. As you walk on them and care for them properly, the fibers become softer, the colors deepen, and the rug develops even more character. With the right maintenance, a handmade rug doesn’t just last — it becomes more beautiful and valuable with time.
If you're storing your wool rug for an extended period, it’s important to let it breathe. Every 3–4 months, take the rug out, lay it in the sun for a few hours, and allow it to air out. This helps prevent moisture buildup, discourages moths, and keeps the wool fibers fresh and healthy. Proper storage and occasional sunlight can significantly extend the life of your rug.
